🏍️ Spotlight: The Motorcycle Unit in Latchford |
||
|
Hi Latchford East
Following our recent focus on the #Fatal5, we’re taking a closer look at our Motorcycle Unit and how they work to keep the streets of Latchford safe.
Jim from the Unit explains that while they are a small, specialist team, they don’t work alone. They are supported by local associate riders during large-scale operations, providing a unique "behind the scenes" capability to tackle vehicle-related issues. A look behind the scenes at... the Motorcycle Unit
The "Jigsaw" Effect: Why Your Information Matters
Because the team is small, we rely on you to be our eyes and ears. You might feel that reporting a single bike doesn't trigger an immediate response, but every report is a vital piece of a larger puzzle.
How your info builds a case:
Person A reports a rider on an e-bike on the Black Bear path at 3:00 PM on Thursdays. Person B reports a similar bike crossing Victoria Park toward the "Wobbly Bridge" at 3:30 PM. Person C contacts Crimestoppers about a specific address in Howley where a bike is stored and a smell of cannabis is present.
In isolation, these look like three separate incidents. Together, they create actionable intelligence. This allows us to move from "patrolling and hoping" to "targeting and catching."
Turning Data into Action
Once the "jigsaw" pieces come together, we trigger Operation Scrambler—Cheshire Constabulary’s force-wide response to off-road bikes and anti-social behaviour (ASB).
This intelligence is used to:
Direct Patrols: Allocating Local Beat Officers to the right place at the right time. Deploy Specialists: Bringing in the Motorcycle Unit and Local Off-Road Units for tactical stops. Disrupt Crime: Identifying addresses where illegal vehicles are stored.
A Note on Anonymity:
How to Report
Help us fill in the blanks. If you see off-road bikes, illegal e-bikes, or ASB in Latchford, let us know:
Online: via the Cheshire Constabulary website. Anonymous: Call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. Reference: Mention "Operation Scrambler" in your report.
Kind regards Suzie Armstrong-Owen 23566 Latchford East | ||
